Help!!! I’ve been stolen!!!
p2pnet.net News:- A cell phone security system with a high pitch scream, which permanently locks the handset and which wipes all data if stolen if the phone is nicked, will halt the rise in phone theft, hopes a UK company.
Remote XT technology works by installing software onto the pones O/S and is activated by a call to a control centre once users realize their phone has been snatched or lost, says The Washington Post.
The phone is then remotely disabled, all the data held on the device are wiped, and a high pitched screech is triggered.
And just to make sure, "The alarm noise is accompanied by a message, reading: ‘This phone is stolen’," says the BBC.
Neither story says if the alarm can be set off accidentally, in any way, and if owners can switch off the screaming phone if that somehow happens.
Meanwhile, the service wil cost about $18 a month.
