Swedish music file share case
p2pnet.net News:- The Big Four Organized Music cartel’s IFPI claims a 44-year-old Borås Tidning man made, ‘It must have been love’ by Roxette, ‘There must be an angel’ by Eurythmics, ‘Sarah’ by Mauro Scocco and ‘Vara vänner’ by Jakob Hellman illegally available online via Direct Connect.
With that as backup, the IFPI (International Federation of Phonographic Industry) has lodged Sweden’s first prosecution against someone for allegedly illegally sharing music files, says The Local.
However, “I never downloaded as much as is claimed,” the story has the accused man saying. “Many of the songs were from CDs I bought in record shops.”
But, “As well as being the first such case to grace the Swedish courts, it could also be the last,” says The Local. “If the man is found not guilty, or is only given a fine, then internet service providers will not be obliged to reveal suspects IP addresses in future. Only when the crime under investigation carries a custodial sentence are ISPs required to hand over data to the police.”
A verdict is expected on October 18, adds the story.
The Tidning case, meanwhile, is just one of the thousands of lawsuits being brought by the Big Four, Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG, against their own customers through their many and varied so-called ‘trade’ organizations such as the IFPI, BPI, RIAA, CRIA, and etc, etc.
The labels want complete control of online distribution in much the same way as they currently control offline music sales.

I think you got the identities all mixed up – Borås Tidning is the name of a newspaper! Borås is a city in southern Sweden and Tidning means Newspaper.

I try to include at least three dozen deliberate mistakes every day to keep readers on their toes.
Cough, cough.
Thanks for pointing this one out ;p
