‘Highly critical’ Skype holes
p2pnet.net News:- Multiple, highly critical, vulnerabilities that could allow hackers to compromise Apple PCs running Skype were discovered, recently, but Secunia says Apple has issued a security update for Mac OS X which fixes the holes.
“An error in the CFNetwork component may allow a malicious SSL site to pose as a trusted SLL site to CFNetwork clients (eg, Safari),” and, “Various errors in the Flash Player can be exploited by malicious people to bypass security restrictions and compromise a vulnerable system,” says Secunia.
Also, “a boundary error in the ImageIO component when processing JPEG2000 images can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow and may allow execution of arbitrary code.”
Secunia goes on to list another nine “errors,” saying the solution is to update to to version 10.4.8, or apply Security Update 2006-006.
