Is Vista now on track?
p2pnet.net News:- You’d think it’d be bad news when the good news is a product will ship on schedule.
But apparently not. Microsoft’s forthcoming O/S may, but only may, be released on time, and that’s good, says Goldman Sachs analyst Rick Sherlund.
He, “believes a second test version of Vista will likely ship later this week or next, implying that the operating system could be on track for a November release to manufacturing (RTM) and a late January retail launch,” says BusinessWeek Online, quoting the Associated Press.
RTM refers to the point at which software makers provide their products to manufacturers so they can be bundled with hardware and tested before the products are sold to the public, says the story, noting:
“Also, we believe Microsoft will soon begin its program of free upgrade coupons for Vista and possibly for Office 2007 (a software suite),” Sherlund told clients.
