NASSCOM demands Channel 4 help
p2pnet.net News:- India’s National Association of Software Services Companies wants Britain’s Channel 4 television to cooperate in, “investigating the station’s undercover operation exposing how customer data from Indian call centers could be illegally sold,” says the Associated Press.
“Channel 4’s report, which aired in Britain, showed a man from Calcutta boasting about his contacts in call centers across the country and offering to sell stolen credit card data from tens of thousands of British customers, says the story.
Police “filed a case” against the man shown on the program, “but NASSCOM said he had fled his home with his family,” states AP.
But, “It is not the role of broadcasters or journalists to act as agents of the police or any other authority,” the story has the station saying.
Many US and European companies, “have shifted their call centers to India to cut costs,” adds AP. “Although there have been several cases of data theft, NASSCOM said such cases are not limited to India and insisted outsourcing companies in India adhere to high security standards.”

Jon, the title and introduction to this item are incorrect. The BBC and Channel 4 are separate broadcasters.
