Australians check open source
p2pnet.net News:- The Australian government plans to take a look at open-source software to see how many agencies have adopted Linux and other systems.
The Government Information Management Office will, “survey 163 federal government agencies as part of a review aimed at gathering evidence of open-source software use at a Commonwealth level,” says The Australian.
“Much of the office’s knowledge about Australian government agency use of open-source software is anecdotal or incomplete, according to the tender document seeking a contractor to carry out the review.
Tenders close on November 9 and the survey is expected to be completed by March 30, adds the story.
