Google Orkut ‘hatred’ charge

p2pnet.net News:- A Bombay High Court alleges Google’s Orkut social network is spreading messages of hatred about India.

Now an order has been issued, “in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by local Advocate Yugant R Marlapall,” says The Times of India, going on:

“A picture of burning the national tricolour, bearing anti-India message, has been put on www.orkut.com and a community ‘We Hate India’ has been created on the site, the petition said.

“The petition has also appealed to the government to appoint a ‘controller’ under the Information Technology Act-2000 to regulate all such communities being in operation on the internet.”

A hearing into the claim has been slated for November.

Orkut is also in trouble in Brazil where it’s been ordered to supply information for a criminal investigation, or face the consequences, whch could include a $61 million fine.
