OnShare p2p
p2pnet.net News:- Would you like to be able to log onto your own computer from somewhere other than home, or wherever else it is, and then access your entire hard drive contents remotely?
Yeh? Then OnShare p2p could be for you. Because that’s one of the features promised by its developer, Britain’s ZGroup.
Hmmm, you’re probably thinking. If I can do that, if I gave someone else access, couldn’t they do it too?
They could, and here’s the entire OnShare promo blurb:
Sharing your stuff
OnShare is built exclusively for you and your friends. You only share files with people you invite so you know they’re from a trusted source. And the files you share stay exactly where they are on your computer’s hard drive.
Secure like Fort Knox
OnShare was originally conceived by ex-Ministry of Defence scientists. All file sharing and chats are tunneled and encrypted with 2,048 bit military encryption. Not even OnShare knows what you are sharing, let alone Big Brother!
Getting stuff
OnShare’s new, patented technology allows you to search or look directly at your friend’s hard drive and grab whatever you want. You open or copy them as if they were on your own computer, just like you normally do in Windows.
What you need
A Windows PC, the Internet, stuff to share and some friends.
Only Windows, eh?
More detail? We’ve contacted ZGroup with a few questions, so stay tuned.
(Thanks, Jess)

Oh boy. Yet another software patent for a basic, obvious, perhaps even strictly quantitative extension of existing code.
That aside, folks, if you want real security, stick to open source. Linux + open source apps have always had Windows + closed source apps whipped where security is concerned. Real security isn’t asking users to blindly trust what’s inside the black box to be secure, non-malicious, cleanly uninstallable, and free of any DRM time bomb when their “license” expires. It’s actually showing users what’s inside, allowing them to fine tune it to suit their needs, and keep it exactly as long as they want it, no more, no less.

GoMyPlace is free, open source, and has all the features listed above and waaaaay more.
Use standard browsers to tap your home/office PCs remotely from cell phones, PDAs, or any other Net-enabled devices.
And you’ll be able to do it with your machine still hidden safely behind a firewall and NAT.
Developed by Larytet of Rodi fame. Last time I talked with him, he said he was working on merging the 2 together.
