MS says it’s helping security firms
p2pnet.net News:- Accused of trying to take control of online security, Microsoft says it’s given firms some of the information they say they need to make their products work with Vista. But Symantec says it’s not getting sufficient data fast enough.
According to Microsoft director Adrien Robinson, the means of connecting outside software to Vista’s Windows ‘digital dashboard’ Security Center were uploaded yesterday to a Web site accessible only by security-software developer, says The Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
But Paden said Symantec wants, "to be sure it has everything we need to let our customers see our digital dashboard instead of Microsoft’s," says the story, continuing:
"Microsoft also said Monday that it plans to discuss with Symantec and McAfee Inc. changes they want made to Patch Guard, part of the 64-bit version of Vista that restricts who can alter the operating system’s core, or kernel."
