Spamhaus changes its mind

p2pnet.net News:- British anti-spammer Spamhaus has said repeatedly that it doesn’t recognise US court which has ordered it to pay $11,715,000 in damages to e360insight and e360insight’s David Linhardt.

It was also told to, "remove Linhardt’s ROKSO record and to cease blocking Linhardt’s spam".

Now it’s changed its views saying it does, after all, recognize the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois court and that it’ll fight the case brought against it by alleged spamco e360insight.

"E360 claims that it is a reputable email marketing company and sued Spamhaus because it was put on the ‘blocklist’ which Spamhaus operates in order to identify spammers and keep their messages out of inboxes," says Out-Law.com.

"The judge issued a default ruling in favour of e360 because Spamhaus did not defend the case. Spamhaus was ordered to stop its operations in the US if it did not pay the $11.7m awarded against it."

Spamhaus is reported to be represented by US law firm Jenner and Block, says the story. Off topic, J&B is a firm favoured by the Big Four Organized Music cartel’s RIAA.

Back on again, ICAAN recently said ‘I can’t’ when it was asked to have Spamhaus.org delisted.

And, "An e360 statement maintains that Spamhaus is a, "fanatical, vigilante organization that operates in the United States with blatant disregard for U.S. law’.

On its site, Spamhaus says it stands by the absolute right, under the European Convention on Human Rights, "of Spamhaus’ users to refuse access to their private mailboxes on their private networks to senders of unsolicited bulk email or indeed any unwanted email, a right established also in U.S. law by Chief Justice Burger, U.S. Supreme Court, who ruled: ‘The asserted right of a mailer stops at the outer boundary of every person’s domain’.

"Spamhaus maintains that while Linhardt has a right under U.S. law to send as much unsolicited bulk email as he likes, he has no right under any law to force Spamhaus users to receive it."

I wonder why Spamhause changed its mind. I also wonder if the British government is as treacherous as the U.S. government is when it comes to handing over citizens to foreign governments. If so, that would be a good reason.
