Phatbot: much ado about nothing
p2pnet.net News:- It’s not as bad as the US Department of Homeland Security thinks, apparently.
Phatbot, that is.
The Washington described it as "highly sophisticated hacker tool that uses the same peer-to-peer (P2P) networking abilities that power controversial file-sharing networks".
But, "experts downplayed the danger of a Trojan horse program named Phatbot that uses peer to peer (P-to-P) technology to create a network of infected zombies for carrying out attacks or spreading malicious code," says an IDG News Service story here, going on:
"I think there are a lot of people getting very excited about something that’s not very important," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos PLC."
The DHS didn’t respond to a request for comment on Phatbot.
But the RIAA and the other AA’s will make a meal of it anyway.
