I don't know what options are open to AllofMP3 to get around this strategy by VISA and MASTERCARD, but like many of its committed users, I will support any legitimate strategy to bypass these credit card companies. Please let all of us know as soon as there is another means of purchasing credit safely.

This is more of the usual posturing by the cartels through their watchdogs. Just as the p2ps could not get licensing, AllofMP3 won't get it either. That is the reason for refusal to accept payment. To accept payment means acknowledgement as a rightful business, something the cartels will not do.

Just as with other targets, the cartels have their eyes at owning the site through legal means. Normally they get some unpayable sum fined to the target and then later buy the target for pennies on the dollar and end up owning it.

It has been reported that Visa will no longer make payments to AllofMP3. You can be sure that pressure is being applied for that reaction as it is also within the best interests of Visa to complete the transactions and recieve payment. So the credit card companies have pressure being put on them to close down the payment options. I believe the moving to ad supported revenue is a direct responce to that move. It looks to me to be a rather well thought out responce at that. It should drive the music companies into fits of rage over that move. Heaven forbid, free music?
