Love-sick librarian on eBay
p2pnet.net News:- A 16th century work by Geoffrey Chaucer worth about $65,955 was among more than 450 publications, posters and other documents a “love sick” librarian stole from the Manchester, England, Central Library, selling some of them through online auction site eBay.
But he escaped jail because he’d, “helped the police to recover so many of the stolen books, which were part of the country`s literary heritage,” says The Times Online.
Norman Buckley, 44, “began his thefts after breaking up with his long-term girlfriend,” says Guardian Unlimited.
“He made more than £11,000 (about $20,726) from sales of books on eBay but hardly spent any of the money, claiming the sales gave him a buzz.”
Buckley was caught after an antiquarian books, “became intrigued when he saw a copy of John Donne’s Elegies, from 1654, for sale on eBay,” says the story. “He saw the Manchester Libraries seal on it, then contacted the library. Staff subsequently contacted police.”
