Students’ online marriage scam
p2pnet.net News:- Two students from Yekaterinburg in Russia have ended up in jail after running a Net scam with a difference.
One of them, a 28-year-old woman, sent pix of herself to a number of international matrimonial agencies, says Russianspy.org.
After exchanging letters with several men in the US, Canada and Britain, the girl asked them to send her money so she could travel to their countries to meet them in person, says the story.
But that was all she wrote. Literally.
Once she had the travel money, which “amounted up to $3,000,” in hand, ” the girl broke the correspondence,” says the story, adding:
“The court sentenced both to prison terms in a minimum-security correctional labor facility. The girl was sentenced to 5 years and her partner got a 5.5 year prison term.”
