Cingular music downloads
p2pnet.net News:- XM Satellite Radio and Cingular Wireless have teamed up to stream 25 XM music channels to Cingular handsets for $9 a month, starting November 6.
“So what’s different about this service than just uploading songs to your phone, something you can do already?” – wonders Gizmodo.
Cingular plans to also provide software so people can transfer songs, and “download them wirelessly,” says the story, adding:
“Not quite sure what this means, but it’s probably Bluetooth file transfer.”
In a statement, the two companies say channels can be selected by genre and include: The 70s, 80s and 90s decades channels, Top 20 on 20 (Top 20 Hits), Lucy (Classic Alternative Hits), The City (Hip-Hop/R&B Hits), XMU (Indie Rock), Bluesville (Blues), America (Classic Country Hits), and Viva (Latin Pop Hits).
“XM will deliver data to make it possible to view the song title, artist and album while listening on a variety of compatible handsets,” they promise.
