Apple cores MS music store
p2pnet.net News:- The MSN music download store hasn’t been the raging success Bill and the Boyz were praying for, thanks to Apple’s DRM-laden iTunes which doesn’t like Microsoft’s Windows Media Audio.
So Microsoft is shutting its site down.
"Beginning, Nov. 14, MSN’s music site will begin redirecting music purchasers to either the Zune Marketplace Web site or to RealNetworks’ Rhapsody site," says CNET News, going on:
"MSN Music, as well as other stores that sell tracks in the Windows Media Audio format, have been unable to compete with iTunes, which has maintained its dominance."
Now, Microsoft plans to make over the MSN Music site, "focusing on hosting live concerts and posting interviews with musicians and other music-related content," says CNET.
"Microsoft is also making its MSN Radio service free. As for those who have bought MSN Music tracks, Microsoft said on its Web site that users will still be able to use their songs, transfer them to compatible music players and burn them to CD."
After November 14, ‘Buy’ buttons n MSN Music album and artist pages will change to links that connect punters to Zune and to Real Rhapsody, says the story.

Why would anyone use ANY of the pay-for-DRM’d-music stores anyway?
As much business as even the iTunes service does – it’s still only a tiny percentage of the p2p music volume.

If only you knew what the hell you were talking about… Apple doesn’t license Fairplay to anyone and won’t enable WMA on the iPod (it’s supported in the firmware, they just turn it off)
