Another red Apple nano
p2pnet.net News:- The lamescream media are all a-twitter, again, because Apple has come out with another red iPod.
The news ‘broke’ last month when it was announced that Oprah and Apple aficionado Bono were hyping a red iPod nano at $200 per.
$10 of the $200 will go to (RED). Ten bucks, eh? Wow. And Good Corporate Citizens American Express, GAP, Motorola, MTV Networks, Giorgio Armani and Converse had already created special (RED) products with 10% of sales going to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Will this draw even more to the aids fight, or focus on the fact tuberculosis and malaria are still serious diseases needing equal attention?
To a small extent, perhaps. But what it did for sure was to garner a staggering amount of priceless free advertising and PR for the companies behind Red in general, and for self-aggrandizer Bono in particular.
Now, just when the media attention was starting to dry up, Apple has come out with another red nano.
This time, the “new” device retails for about $250 and can store about 2,000 songs, “or double the capacity” of the existing red nano player that’s already out there, says Reuters.
Of the $250, $10 will go to RED.
“Customer response to the iPod Nano (Product) RED Special Edition has been off the charts,” TechWeb has Greg Joswiak, vice president of iPod product marketing, saying.
iPod product marketing? Surely that should have been Apple’s Charity Division.
As a p2pnet reader commented last time, “If you have a spare $200 lying around why don’t you just donate the whole amount to various charities?
“People shouldn’t have to be rewarded with a red iPod.”
