GEMA goes after YouTUbe
p2pnet.net News:- Google should make royalty payments to the German Society for Musical Performing and Mechanical Reproduction Rights (GEMA), the society is demanding.
But this time it’s not because of alleged search-related copyright infringements.
Rather, GEMA says it’s all down to YouTube, the contentious online video site Google recently bought for $1.65 billion.
“A spokesman of GEMA has told the German business daily Handelsblatt that the society is currently involved in talks with the Internet group,” says Heise Online.
“We do not intend to wait until the negotiations have come to an end but have already pointed out to Google those instances at YouTube in which rights of our members have been infringed,” the story has the spokesman saying, gooin gon:
“The society had demanded that Google delete all pertinent videos that contain non-licensed music …”
