Samsung’s WiMax PDA
p2pnet.net News:- Samsung has unveiled a PDA which doubles as a WiMax terminal.
With Microsoft Windows XP as the O/S, the Deluxe MITs (SPH-P9000) comes with a 5″ liquid crystal display monitor, a QWERTY keyboard, 1.3-megapixel embedded camera module and an MP3 player, as well as a 30-gigabyte hard disk drive, says Samsung.
“The SPH-P9000 is a PDA-based device utilizing Mobile WiMAX and CDMA EV-DO connectivity,” it states.
Users will have wireless access to the Internet utilizing Mobile WiMAX connectivity. Simultaneously, the CDMA EV-DO technology provides mobile phone connection for voice communication.”
WiMax, better known as WiBro (wireless broadband) in Korea, was launched by Korean telecom operators KT and SK Telecom in June, “but it is struggling unsuccessfully to take root mainly because of a lack of proper terminals and narrow service ranges,” says The Korea Times.
