New, faster, MacBooks
p2pnet.net News:- New $1,100 ‘in time for Christmas’ Apple MacBooks are 25% faster than the originals, introduced less than six months ago.
"Three new models of the MacBook, Apple’s lowest-priced notebooks, are available today with Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors," says The Chicago Tribune, continuing:
"The machines account for 46 percent of sales. Apple updated its MacBook Pro notebooks and iMac desktop with Core 2 Duo chips, which use less power and run more quietly than the older Core Duo, in the past two months."
Apple, "released the original MacBook on 16 May 2006 making it less than six months between revisions (176 days or 5 months 23 days for you home gamers.)," says ZDNet.
"By comparison, the MacBook Pro 15-inch model was revved to Core 2 Duo 252 days (or 8 months and 10 days) after the original. The MBP17 was revved in 183 days or exactly 6 months later. In short, Apple’s upgrade cycle for portables has dropped to between six and eight months."
