The internet highway: literally
p2pnet.net News:- The internet highway takes on a literal meaning with a product from KVH Industries, a Middletown, Rhode Island, company which specializes in developing and manufacturing mobile, high-bandwidth satellite communications systems, and tactical navigation and fiber optic products.
Its TracNet allows passengers to go online while they’re on the move via video screens installed in a car, truck, RV or boat.
“It also turns the entire vehicle into a wireless hot spot, so passengers can use their laptops to go online,” says Wyoming’s Casper Star Tribune.
The current price is $2,000 for the automotive version of TracNet, which operates on Verizon Wireless’ high-speed network, and another $60 to $80 a month, says the story. There’s also a $10 monthly charge for MSN TV, and the user provides the screens.
