What’ll you pay for a PS3?
p2pnet.net News:- Expect a lot of Sony PS3 activity on eBay and elsewhere, especially between November 11 and 17.
Those are the dates on which the company plans to release it’s PS3 in Japan and the US respectively, and at substantially different prices.
Despite a recent price cut announced for Japan, Sony, “will keep a hefty price tag on its forthcoming PlayStation 3 videogame console in the US, says Sony Computer Entertainment America boss Kaz Hirai, quoted in MarketWatch.
The company will sell the smaller hard-disk drive model of PlayStation 3 for Y49,980 (about $430), around Y10,000 less than the previously announced price. But in the US, the 20-gig HDD model will sell for $500, and the 60-gig model for $600, says the story.
“Though the price is well above that of rival gaming consoles from Nintendo Co. and Microsoft Corp., Sony aims to compete with new features including the BlueRay high-definition DVD player,” says the story, adding that Microsoft released its Xbox 360 console last year with a price of $300 and $400 for two different versions.

Just get Nintendo’s Wii console. $249.99 WITH a game (or actually 5 games in one) and no complicated/confusing ‘premium’ versions to choose from. Plus, it’s all about the games, no Blu-Ray or any DVD stuff, just a pure games console.
