Warner Bros dumps China
p2pnet.net News:- Warner Bros says it’s had it up to there with China.
The authorities say Warner can’t have a controlling interest in Chinese movie theatres, so Warner is hitting the road.
“The company currently holds a controlling stake in three multiplex theaters and in two others under construction,” says IMDb.
“It had also been planning to open a huge complex in Shanghai.”
Oh dear.
But, “new regulations left it with ‘no other options than to stop its investments in cinemas in the [Chinese] market’,” it declares, says the story, quoting The Los Angeles Times as commenting that the decision, “underscores Hollywood’s frustrations operating in China”.
