Pirated Vista ‘No Good’
p2pnet.net News:- Anyone using pirated versions of Vista is playing a losing game, says Microsoft.
“The copies available for download are not final code and users should avoid unauthorized copies which could be incomplete or tampered,” it says, quoted by the IDG News Service.
“This unauthorized download relies on the use of pre-RTM [release-to-manufacturing] activation keys that will be blocked using Microsofta’s Software Protection Platform. Consequently, these downloads will be of limited value.”
The Software Protection Platform, “is supposed to render the operating system inoperative if it suspects a product key is bogus,” says the story.
“Copies of the OS whose product keys have been blocked eventually drop into a barely-usable state where only the Internet Explorer browser works, and then only for an hour before its user is automatically logged off.”
Office 2007, meanwhile, “will use a less robust anti-piracy scheme based on Windows XP’s already-deployed Windows Genuine Advantage technology,” says IDG.

It’s not final code until they stop supporting it. So at the moment the only versions of windows that are ‘final code’ are windows 3.xx, 9x, nt4.x and 2k.

HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A WINDOWS FAN SINCE 95,(OF ALL IT’S WINDOW SYSTEMS)
DESPITE IT’S PROBLEMS.
I NEVER THOUGHT I SAY THIS BUT VISTA IS THE WORST , POLISHED LOOK WITH NO SUBSTANCE AND IT OVER DRESSES THE SIMPLEST APPLICATIONS MAKING A BIG SONG AND DANCE ABAOUT THINGS YOU JUST WANT TO DO QUICK WITH REPEATATLY ASKING IF YOU REALLY ,REALLY WANT DO DO WHAT YOU REQUESTED IT TO DO. UPDATING MY PRINTER SOFTWARE TO ACCOMMADATE VISTA HAS ALSO RESULTED IN SOME OUTRIGHT LAUGHABLE RESULTS. FORTUNATELY I ALSO RUN 2000 PRO AND XP PRO, AND SHALL PROBABLY BOOT UP VISTA FOR A LAUGH AT CHRISTMAS BECAUSE I KNOW SOMEONE THAT IS COMING (5 YEARS OF AGE) THAT LOVES TO BE PATRONISED AND ADORES GLITZ AND GLAMOUR OF THINGS WHICH HAVE NO LONG THERM APEAL FOR MOST OF US.
VISTA IS RUBBISH. THERE ARE NO ADVANTAGES TO RUNNING VISTA COMPARED WITH XP, ONLY DISADVANTAGES.IT IS A WASTE OF PEOPLES TIME AND MONEY. MICROSOFT SHOULD HANG THEIR HEADS IN SHAME TO RELEASE AN SO CALLED ” U P D A T E ” LIKE PISSTA , SORRY VISTA.
