Disney, Target row
p2pnet.net News:- With news that Big Four Organized Music cartel member Vivendi Universal is going after social network exploiter Ruper Murdoch echoing in the background comes other news that Target is upset with Disney.
Last month Target told Hollywood it, “might have to reconsider the amount of shelf space allocated for movies if studios undercut the wholesale price of DVDs by giving online services a better deal on digital offerings”.
And, The Associated Press went on, similar concerns had also been expressed by Wal-Mart, “and other retailers”.
Now, “Discount retailer Target backed off plans to pull in-store promotions of products from Walt Disney after Disney threatened not to ship DVDs of hit movie ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,’ a person familiar with the situation said Friday, according to AP.
“The companies are at odds over The Walt Disney Co.’s decision to sell movies online through Apple Computer Co.’s iTunes store for less than it charges Target and other retailers.”
Target stores dumped signs promoting the Cars DVD, and other Disney products, according to a person familiar with the situation, “who was not authorized to speak for either company”.

Wait, I’m confused. Why is Target making a fuss over a “better deal” on services like iTunes? While the amount of purchases of movie downloads is impressive considering that anyone would purchase lossy quality for a few dollars cheaper than a DVD, why the fuss?
My point is that Target does not seem to be fairly comparing their prices with a different format. iTunes shouldn’t even be considered competition to Target – the only competition they should be whining about is Wal * Mart.
