Big Music’s Kazaa case delayed
p2pnet.net News:- Big Music’s Australian record labels and their pseudo-cops aren’t happy.
After raiding the Sydney homes and business offices of Kazaa owners and employees to get ‘evidence’ of wrong-doing on the part of Kazaa’s owners, Sharman Networks, the labels been told to back off.
Justice Murray Wilcox has ordered that seized documents be sorted by an independent law firm and a forensics expert so material not covered in the Anton Pillar order – which gave the music industry the power to conduct the raids – is excluded.
"In handing down his decision, Justice Wilcox told the applicants they were ‘flogging a dead horse’ in their attempts to get immediate access to material," says Sharman, going on:
"The directions give Sharman and other parties raided an opportunity to review the material and identify irrelevant and privileged material, which falls outside the Anton Piller order. This process will take place in consultation with independent solicitors, a forensic expert and solicitors representing both sides."
The case is due up on 14 May. In the meanwhile, the ‘materials’ are being held by an independent law firm.
