‘Highly critical’ Mac OS X flaw
p2pnet.net News:- Apple’s Mac OS X has a “highly critical” vulnerability which could be exploited by hackers, says Secunia.
“The vulnerability is caused due to an error in com.apple.AppleDiskImageController when handling corrupted DMG image structures,” it says. “This can be exploited to cause a memory corruption and may allow execution of arbitrary code in kernel-mode.”
The flaw, “is reported in a fully patched Mac OS X (2006-11-20),” says Secunia, warning, “Other versions may also be affected.”
Solution?
Deactivate the option “opening safe files after downloading” in the preferences, “and grant only trusted users access to affected systems,” it suggests.
