Microsoft loses patent appeal
p2pnet.net News:- In June, a US federal appeals court upheld a ruling that Microsoft Office software infringes on technology patented by Guatamalan inventor Carlos Armando Amado, says CNET News.
A jury awarded Amado $6.1 million, ruling Microsoft’s method of, “linking its Access database and Excel spreadsheet infringed on Amado’s technology,” and now the US Supreme Court has refused to consider Microsoft’s appeal, says the story.
Microsoft is “disappointed” at the decision, says CNET, going on that it had already removed the feature found to have infringed on Amado’s patent. But Bill and the Boyz aren’t giving up.
“We will now shift our focus to preparing for additional proceedings relating to this case at the district court level,” the story has Microsoft spokesman Jack Evans saying.
