OK.
A couple of days back we scooped an entire Brenda Stardom piece headed up Placing a U and a K in the FCC …
Of course, we wouldn’t have been able to publish it if we’d written it ourselves. But since we quoted Stardom …
Anyway. It’s dedicated to the word the Federal Communications Commission has declared is an expletive both indecent and profane, banning it for broadcast. For ever. Anywhere.
Quoting Brenda, we said it’s derived from Fokken which, as everyone knows, springs from the Danish “fokken,” which among other things, means to breed cattle.
It means something else in Swedish.
Had we read the article on Stardom’s site all the way through …
Anyway, it wasn’t our fault – it’s all down to Anonymous Coward.
But it seems we got it frichen wrong !
According to a Public Service flash movie on eBaum’s World, The Word is from the German ‘frichen’ – to strike, as someone else found here.
