Bram Cohen leaves BitTorrent
p2pnet.net News:- On the heels of an announcement that former indie p2p application BitTorrent has signed a deal with a whole passel of film and tv companies comes further news that BT founder and creator Bram Cohen is to be replaced by, “a more seasoned manager”.
Is he going voluntarily or is he being pushed?
Either way, somehow, it’s no surprise, and no slight is intended toward Cohen. His brother, Ross, was also eased out at the beginning of the year.
“You’ve been very quiet about your brother’s departure from your company,” p2pnet said to Cohen in April. “Are you able to say what happened to make him leave?”
“No,” said Cohen.
The first item comes in a BT statement, and the second in GigaOM which says apparently, a head hunter has been retained to lead the search for Cohen’s replacement.
On the entertainment cartel deal, 20th Century Fox, G4, Kadokawa Pictures USA, Lionsgate, MTV Networks (including COMEDY CENTRAL, Logo, MTV: Music Television, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Nicktoons Network, SpikeTV, The N, TV Land and VH1), Palm Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Starz Media will publish movies and TV shows on BitTorrent.com, says the statement.
The BitTorrent video store has yet to open.

You have to love it. Two years ago the major media cartels were accusing BT of polluting the net, saying so-and-so percent of traffic was thanks to BitTorrent and was slowing the net down and imparing ‘legitimate’ users. Now it’s totally fine! What were the chances eh?

Serves him right. Sellout. I hope he never makes another penny.
