Japanese chase YouTube
p2pnet.net News:- JASRAC (Japan Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers) is after Google again.
Some 29,549 videos have already been deleted on JASRAC’s say-so. But now Google should preview videos before they’re posted, it’s demanding in an email with December 15 as the deadline.
The group, which says it represents 23 Japanese TV stations and entertainment companies, says the problem has persisted and the current system, “is not functioning well due to the (continued) large volume of illegal uploads,” according to Associated Press.
“The letter requested that YouTube introduce a preliminary screening system to prevent copyrighted clips from being posted,” says the story.
“It also asked for a series of provisional measures, including posting a notice in Japanese about illegal uploads, requiring uploaders to register and terminating users who violate copyright.”
There’s more, however.
JASRAC also wants people who upload videos to have to register their details, “and face bans if they violate copyright,” says the BBC.
GooTube, “has been negotiating with leading copyright holders and reached agreement with several firns, letting the website post copyrighted music videos and other content in exchange for sharing advertising revenue,” it says, adding:
“The website has licensing deals with CBS and three major recording companies: Warner Music, Universal Music Group and Sony BMG Music Entertainment.”
