YouTube wannabes
p2pnet.net News:- News Corp’s Fox, Viacom., CBS and NBC Universal are experiencing jealousy pangs.
To assuage them, they’re thinking about creating a video site to go up against Google’s GooTube, says The Wall Street Journal.
“The companies, owners of most of the major TV networks, envision a jointly owned site that would be the primary Web source for video content from their networks, allowing them to cash in on fast-growing Web video advertising,” it states.
Disney, owner of the ABC television network, isn’t involved because it wants to rely on the strength of its own brands, says the story.
Thefour have discussed building a web video able to play video clips from across the web, says the WSJ, adding, however, that a deal to create a competitor remains distant.

Doesn’t much matter to me. I don’t got to YouTube and never have. I will be no more inclined to go to rip off sites than I would to YouTube. So their cashing in holds no interest to me.
Just like I don’t buy cds, dvds, rent, nor go to the theater, I won’t be there either. I am sure they aren’t talking about data mining that is certainly to take place there as additional income besides the ads.
I never really realized just how annoying ads are till I got away from them nearly totally. I don’t get the paper, I don’t get pay-for view crap, and I don’t watch public tv. The total drop out of those sources makes me notice the ads even more. They are so annoying that I find content laced with ads repulsive. They drive me yet further away from any “sponsored” content.
I’m fed up with the ad infested content. I do everything possible to avoid them on the net because of my lack of exposure in regular life makes me that more sensitive to the intrusion they represent.
