I know there were a lot of people far worse off than us and I think one or two of the smaller near-by islands are still without power. We seem OK, for the moment, but now we're covered for the next black-out or two, which'll definitely come before the winter is over.

It's like Joni Mitchell says in Big Yellow TAxi: You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone.

Know what you mean about being without power. I did the buy the generator thing during Katrina. We went 9 days without power but we still had a house. Gas to run the generator was something else to come by. Had to drive nearly out of state to buy gas for the gen. No gas cans to be bought, no stations wanted you to fill them.

Good luck Jon. Be looking for your presence here.

I'm trying : ) Still lots of ups and downs but the weather guessers are saying it'll all be over by the weekend. But I'll now be OK as long as cable company doesn't go down. Yesterday I bought a small generator which should pump out enough power to keep the modem, router and laptop going. Today, there were quite a few blips early on, but things seemed to have smoothed out over the last hour-and-a-half.

Cheers!
