User-made video lineups

p2pnet.net News:- California’s mywave.com plans to, "officially launch its service today after quietly releasing the test version in October, which has been attracting more than 20,000 new users per week, according to the company," says The Associated Press.

It’s talking about mywave’s plan to allow people to design channel lineups for watching videos on their mobile phones.

"CNN news clips and YouTube videos are among the content that would be accessible through the mywaves service, which works across wireless carriers with high-speed data networks," says AP. "The service is free, but users must have a data plan with their cell phone carrier and pay related data-traffic fees."

mywaves says it’s backed by Menlo Ventures, "and led by a seasoned executive team from Danger, Napster, PayPal, TiVo and Yahoo".

It can broadcast to mobile phones worldwide, regardless of who is providing the service, it states, promising, "Our service allows you to pass along channels to friends, send in comments using TXT messaging and vote on contests and promotions."

The service uses a Java-based software program and works with most video-capable mobile phones, says AP, adding:

"An exception would be some smart phones that don’t yet support Java-based Web applications and video streaming."
