Nintendo in wrist strap lawsuit

p2pnet.net News:- Nintendo tried to make light of it, but a dodgy wrist strap is haunting the company in a big way,

“It`s not a recall,” said Nintendo UK PR manager Rob Saunders, talking about the fact Nintendo was offering to swap old straps an 0.024 inch diameter, for a thicker ones with a diameter of 0.04 inch.

The whole idea of the remote controller is users are supposed to be able to really get into things by using it to repeat off-screen movements, on-screen.

But the wrist straps keep breaking, allowing the controller to fly off on its own to possibly damage to items such as TV sets, say some people.

Now a class action lawsuit has been filed against Nintendo of America for the “defective nature” of the Wii straps,” says GamesDailyBiz.

“The suit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington alleges that Nintendo violated the Washington Consumer Protection Act by engaging in ‘unfair or deceptive practices’.”

Nintendo says the suit is “completely without merit” and that by offering a replacement plan for 3.2 million Wii straps (a move that will cost a few million dollars), the company has already taken the necessary corrective action by the time it was alerted to the lawsuit, adds GamesDailyBiz.

Sure, you’re supposed to jump around and have fun, but some people take it too far. Like the story about a girl getting a black eye cause her boyfriend hit her with the Wii Remote playing Twilight Princess. The Wii Remote is very sensitive to the slightest movement. You don’t need to swing it hard for Link to swing his sword. I’ve had my Wii since the UK launch and I’ve not had any accidents. Neither has my friend. We play Wii Sports bowling all the time. Some people are just stupid and don’t read the safety instructions. Or have no common sense to keep their hands dry. Or keep them closed.

Too right, even bags of peanuts have to include the “may contain nuts” warning… Wii should be congratulated for doing something different, I’m pretty sure they would have tested it properly before release, is it their fault some d*** uses it for real? What next using the Wiimote instead of a golf club at your local pitch and putt, lol.

    Too right!
