Beware Wii Kryptonite !
p2pnet.net News:- Oh dear. Reports have emerged saying there’s another Nintendo Wii (pronounced ‘wee’) problem, and this time is centres on the time of year rather than wrist straps which break, allowing the ‘magic wand’ remote controller to go flying off —- into the nearest fragile item, perhaps.
“Apparently, there have been reports of fairy lights (so quite gentle lights, then) causing problems with the Wii’s remote control sensor,” says Shiny Shiny, a “girl’s guide to gadgets”.
According to Nintendo, says the story, “In exceptional conditions where the Wii sensor bar is sat near a direct light source there may be some minor interference - this does not mean that there is any fault with your Wii.”
And as proof of the (Christmas) pudding, “So my wife and I work hard to pimp out our new Christmas Tree this year in our new house,” posts Frisby on Intendo, going on:
We have to put the tree next to the entertainment center due to lack of space. Well after placing over 100 ornaments on the tree we decide a good Zelda ass kicking was needed. We turn on the Wii and I see the little white and blue “1? glove freak out like crazy. After a few seconds it is completely gone I tell my wife to kill the tree. She was puzzled but after she did we confirmed it. The sensor bar does not just hate sunlight, it hates Christmas lights as well. In fact, Christmas lights are like super charged Wii Kryptonite.
So to you gamers who want to have a tricked out tree or living room full of lights this Christmass Season, you will have to unplug the lights if you wish to play your Wii.
(Thanks, Jazz
