First 1-gig mobile DRAM chip
p2pnet.net News:- Samsung Electronics has developed the first 1-gig mobile DRAM chip, it says.
Made by using 80-nanometer process technology, the new chip, “can be used for advanced mobile phone handsets as well as digital cameras, portable media players and games,” says The Chosun Ilbo.
The DDR device is about 20% thinner than previous generations, “which allows for more headroom when stacking the memory,” says TG Daily.
“Also, the company claims that power consumption is down about 30%, ‘over conventional memory chip designs”
The company plans to mass-produce the new chip from the second quarter of next year.
