BenQ Mobile: faint hope
p2pnet.net News:- The former cell phone division of Siemens, BenQ Mobile, will soon fold, says Heise Online.
But it’s still possible for an investor to enter into the picture in the first few days of this month, “after insolvency proceedings have officially begun,,” says the story. Some two thirds of the original 3,000 employees at BenQ Mobile have already lost their jobs.
According to the employee council, “only one party – an investment group from the IT and the semiconductor industry represented by a Munich lawyer – was still seriously interested in what was left of the former Siemens cell phone division,” says Heise.
“The employee council says that it is 75 percent sure that this candidate will make a specific offer at the beginning of January.”
BenQ Mobile was forced to file for insolvency when its parent company, BenQ of Taiwan, shut off the flow of funds to its subsidiary, adds the story.
