A recompressed version with some loss of quality should occupy 4 gigs and would fit on DVD, like current DVDRips fit on one or two CDs.

Just a heads up - legalities aside, don't rush to download this movie. Many ISPs including Rogers impose monthly bandwidth caps. Rogers, for example, allows no more than 60GB of data to be transferred (upload and download combined) per month. If you exceed this you will get receive a warning, and later, account termination. One HD-DVD movie at 20GB constitutes about 1/3 Rogers' monthly bandwidth allowance.

More and more bandwidth-hungry applications are making their way onto the internet. If your current ISP isn't keeping up with the times, ditch them for a more forward-thinking provider. Check out http://www.canadianisp.com for unbiased aggregated reviews of ISPs by their users.
