iPhone-like Prada mobile
p2pnet.net News:- Steve ‘iRule’ Jobs talks the talk, but LG Electronics and Prada have walked the walk, producing a completely touch screen mobile phone, slated for release in February.
The Prada (KE850) phone by LG is claimed to be the world’s first, “advanced touch interface that eliminates the conventional keypad making the overall usage experience a tactile one,” says DMasia.com.
“An extra wide LCD screen is claimed to maximise visual impact, allowing the user to benefit from several key features of the phone, including the 2 megapixel camera featuring Schneider-Kreuznach lens, video player and document viewer capacity.”
Does it look familiar, apart from the similarity to Apple’s yet-to-be-launched iPhone?
Engadget wrote about the KE850 from LG in December last year.
“The big draw here, of course, is a 400 x 240 touchscreen that takes the place of virtually every hard button you might find on a more traditional handset, save for Send, End, and a handful of keys on the sides,” says the story. “The posterior reveals a cam, though its specs remain a mystery.”
It’s a mystery no longer.
“Features of the Prada phone include 2MP camera with Schneider-Kreuznach lens, video player, document viewer, mp3 player, microSD card slot, Macromedia Flash UI, EDGE Tri-Band (900/1800/1900) and Bluetooth 2.0,” says I4U News.
“The measurements are just 98.8×54x12mm. The Apple iPhone measures 115×61x11.6mm. This means the Prada phone is quite smaller in volume compared to the Apple iPhone.”
The Prada will go on sale at the end of February at prices starting at about $777.77 (€600) in mobile dealerships as well as selected Prada stores in the UK, France, Germany and Italy, says the post, followed by launches Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore in March, 2007.
“The Korean version of the phone is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2007,” says says I4U News.
Apple’s iPhine isn’t due out for another six months or so, but when it does eventually arrive, at arond $500, it’ll be a lot less expensive.

Wow more expensive…alot less storage & much dumber UI. All this for a price higher than the iPhone. Is it a multi touch screen? Touch screens have been on devices for a while. This is nothing new. What is different about the iPhone is the INTERFACE. It amazes me how many people just don’t get it….yup it’s a Windows world. No Vision.

Didn’t I see this bezel touching interface in patents by Apple?

Wake up people, that LG-Prada phone, unveiled like 4 months ago, even won design prises for 2007. This is not an “iPhone-like” phone, its an “LG-like”, it doesn’t sounds as good, but that’s what it is.
