Keith Urban sues Keith Urban

p2pnet.net News:- Keith Urban has sued Keith Urban over www.keithurban.com.

The first Keith Urban is a singer and the second, a New Jersey artist who on May 10, 1999, registered keithurban.com and, “Just four months later – and a mere month before his self-named debut U.S. album hit the shelf – the recording artist Keith Urban registered the domain name keithurban.net,” says The City Paper Online.

“Now the country star, who lives in Nashville, wants the .com site taken away from the New Jersey Urban and bestowed onto him.”

Keith D. Urban uses his site to sell his art and the Nashville Urban`s lawsuit says Keith D, “registered an internet domain name and has structured a related Web site with the intent of producing confusion as to the sponsorship of the Web site and the source of the goods advertised thereon,” says the story

NJ Urban doesn’t say anything about the other Urban on his site, but the cowboy singer’s lawyers argue the site’s advertising is, “intended to confuse members of the public and to mislead them in believing that the art was created or otherwise sponsored by Plaintiff Urban,” referring to the sentences, “You have reached the site of Keith Urban. To Those Who Don`t Know, Oil Painting Is One Of My Hobbies.”

“Not only has Nashville’s Urban asked for the .com domain name – which expires as a registered domain name on May 10, 2011 – to immediately be awarded to him, he has also asked the court to give him exclusive rights to keithurban.com ‘during his lifetime’,” says The City Paper Online, adding:

“Urban asked for the site to be shut down pending the outcome of his suit, as well as monetary damages.”

The shooting, not singing, cowboy in the picture is a detail from a painting on the NJ Urban’s site here.

IN MY OPINION, this is just another frivolous bullshit lawsuit from a brain-dead caterwauling hick and some desperate ambulance chasing fool for a lawyer. I suspect this jerk-off knows damn well there is no ‘confusion’ (after looking at the site, only a complete fu%$ing moron would be confused) but still thinks he has a chance to steal someone else’s domain name by using court-house terror tactics. Very very sleazy.

IN MY OPINION, I hope this guy dies a painful excruciating death in some horrible car accident or wild animal attack.

It would be nice if there was a ‘loser pays’ rule in the U.S. like there is in Canada. Might stop some of this type of nonsense.

This is a such a stupid case. NJ Urban obviously will win based simply on the evidence. Then he can sue for damages on the order of a half million and win. If I was a lawyer I would take the case right now for free. It is a guranteed win!

Urban the hick and his lawyers are morons. This is America. You can’t just walk into someone’s house and demand something that person rightfully owns.

Most likely hick Urban will have to pay over a million now for that domain name plus damages. Too bad for him. He probably could have gotten it for quarter of that amount.

It’s common for celebrities to sue to protect their domain names. Others who have sued for this are: Hilary Swank, Jennifer Aniston, Elvis, Jennifer Lopez, Catherine Zeta Jones and her husband Michael Douglas, Bruce Springstein, Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise, and Madonna.

When Keith started out many years ago, it wasn’t a big issue, but now that he’s reached superstar status, his name is much more well known and the painter’s website is getting more activity than ever before. If the painter was a man of “principle”, he would put a picture of himself on his site to avoid confusion. Keith has a right to protect his name from people who are trying to misuse it and profit from it.

Keith Urban is a fine human being and he’s absolutely the best live entertainer I’ve ever been privileged to see. He doesn’t deserve even a mention on this trashy blog.

it isn’t the singers domain you moron!
so it doesn’t matter if it is “common for celebrities to sue to protect their domain names.”

the painter got the domain first. so it is HIS legally owned domain.

probably you like the singers music because your reading comprehension seems not the best. Easy music texts might suit you well so! ;-)
