Catholics attack Telus porn plan
p2pnet.net news:- Following news that Canada’s Telus has decided porno pix at $3-4 each are the way of the future, the Roman Catholic archbishop of Vancouver may cancel contracts with the company.
With its new ‘adult content’ service, launched in January 8, it became the first wireless provider in Canada to start peddling pornographic photos and videos.
But archbishop Raymond Roussin is upset, telling The B.C. Catholic newspaper, “Telus Mobility has crossed the line which brings the problem of the accessibility of pornographic material further into the public realm.”
He goes on:
“Given the increasing awareness about the problem of sexual addiction to pornography through Internet access, and the abuse that this perpetuates of vulnerable persons, Telus’s decision is disappointing and disturbing.”
Roussin will raise his concerns with parishes and schools throughout the Archdiocese of Vancouver and is also also considering directing Catholic institutions to terminate their contracts with Telus Mobility, says the story.
