My daughter was sent the same extortion letter last year. She states she did not share files. On advice of attorney, we offered to pay $1.00 for each song they claim she shared, approx. 10 in total in one document sent to her and 75 in another document sent to her (can they count correctly?). We waited one year without a reply. Just this week, we received another threatening letter where they say we should settle or risk huge fines in court. We called to ask their settlement. They said it would cost $4,000.00 to settle out of court!. Are they nuts or is it they just don't have a life. All name slinging provided in these postings fits them perfectly. The RIAA really needs to find a reputable group to represent them, these characters are not 'fit' to be doing business with college students. And the RIAA and it's counterpart mug warts didn't live so high and mighty, they might find a decent way to earn income rather than point fingers and try to steal from others.

fight these creeps. As a free society we really need to keep the world aware of what we do. Sometime down the road some judge will realize these creeps are extorting kids and demand repayment. Only by sharing resources can we put these corporate creeps where they belong.

on another note, when comeone gets one of these notices from an isp be sure to post it up on the web somewhere, along with the name of the offending isp. I have a few ammusing ideas as to what to do with one.
