Poor mobile music sales

p2pnet.net news:- Edgar Bronfman Jr, the Canadian who runs the Warner Music component of the Big 4 Organized Music gang, says although there are already millions of music phones available throughout the world, only about 8.8% of owners use them to buy music.

The reason, he said, quoted by ZDNet News, is because such purchases are expensive, complicated and slow.

Does that remind you of anyone? Warner and the other OM members, EMI (Britain), Vivendi Universal (France) and Sony BMG (Japan and Germany), perhaps?

“We need to make it easy, affordable and quick to get music on mobile phones,” he said. “Until we achieve this goal, we will be leaving billions of dollars on the table.”

Speaking at the 3GSM World Congress, he also said, “It’s amazing we have generated as much money as we have, given how cumbersome it is to buy music. Imagine what we could do if it was fun and easy for consumers.”

Yes, Edgar. Just imagine. Much better than trying to sue people into buying your over-priced, low quality Big 4 ‘product’.

He also said of DRM, “We can’t put so much protection on content that the user experience is poor.”

Bronfman recently embarrassed himself and the other members of the Big 4 by admitting his kids had probably shared music online.

However, his kids aren’t being subjected to the same humiliating treatment as others who’ve become targets in the music industry’s bizarre sue ‘em all marketing campaign.
