		<description>&quot;In fact, the real harm to the economy may be the baseless claims of Canada as a pirate nation that sow seeds of doubt for prospective investors and distract policy makers from more important economic concerns.&quot;

This is very true.  If I were in charge of the Canadian government, I would demand compensation.  If that compensation did not come, then I would set up websites specifically for the downloading of their &quot;products.&quot;  On the website, it would say, &quot;Canada has been publicly libeled and even sanctioned for allowing counterfeiting and piracy.  Since our nation has to wear the label, we will do the deed.  Rather than buying you movies and music for an exorbitant price, come here and download them for free.&quot;

This will get the music, software, and movie cartels really riled up. What will generate even more good will for Canada would be if Canada insist that the RIAA and MPAA pay back all the monies gained via extortion in lieu of compensation for libel. Hollywood needs to be taught a lesson, and just a single foreign government has the power to do it.

Doing something like this would cause many of the people in the United State to have good will toward the foreign government. Since the U.S. government does not look after the interest of the average American, another government doing so might be a good idea. Russia, Venezuela, Canada, China, Iran, anyone?
