Continuing iTunes, Vista, trouble

p2pnet.net news:- According to Apple, a problem which had stopped Vista users from playing music or videos bought from its iTunes iPod loader had been dealt with.

At the beginning of last month, Apple was gleefully pointing out that those people wealthy enough to be able spend $1 for iTunes tunes shouldn’t ‘upgrade’ to Vista because iTunes might not work too well with it.

The warning vanished but now, “Apple is [still] actively working with Microsoft to resolve a few remaining known issues,” it says, and here’s the list:

Ejecting an iPod from Windows Explorer or the Windows notification area (system tray) using the “Safely Remove Hardware” feature may corrupt your iPod. To always safely eject an iPod, choose Eject iPod from the Controls menu within iTunes. If your iPod becomes corrupt, selecting your iPod in iTunes and clicking Restore in the iPod’s Summary panel should return your iPod to a working condition.

iTunes may display text or graphics incorrectly on your screen. Resizing the iTunes window should correct this issue.

Contacts from Windows Address Book may not sync with iPod.

iTunes remains unsupported on 64 bit editions of Windows, including Windows Vista and Windows XP x64.

Do not stay iTuned.

Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

This shouldn’t be an issue for Apple. They’ve had access to the code for over a year to make Itunes compatible with Vista. Every other [competent] company got their sh1t together and made their software compatible, why couldn’t Apple?

But all in all, it doesn’t matter too much to me (XP Pro with WMP11, but WMP is only used because hotkeys on my computer only work with it, I would have preferred to use Winamp).

Did you try setting Winamp as the default player in the Set Program Access and Defaults part of Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel?
