Bay Area No 1 Wi-Fi hot spot
p2pnet.net News:- The Bay Area is Number One in the US metropolitan market for Wi-Fi hot spots, according to an Intel survey that defined the Bay Area as San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland.
Portland/Vancouver dropped to fifth in this year’s survey, continues a Mercury News story here, going on:
“Long Beach, which was one of the first cities to offer free wireless networks, was included as part of Los Angeles, which ranked No. 23. Washington, D.C., was No. 3, just behind Orange County. Austin, which also has a big concentration of technology companies, ranked No. 4.”
Bay Area airports didn’t fare so well in the survey, says the story, adding:
“While there has been a big push to bring wireless access to San Francisco International, Mineta San Jose and Oakland International, the airports ended up as Nos. 8, 11 and 15. Dallas-Fort Worth had the best wireless access.”
