Turkey drops YouTube ban

p2pnet.net news:- Turkey’s block on YouTube for hosting videos which insulted former Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk has been lifted.

“Ahter Kutadgu, head of corporate communications for Turk Telekom, told the Anatolia news agency his company had been notified of a court decision to lift the ban,” says Associated Press.

The Istanbul court said it would lift the ban as soon as it ascertained the offending clips were removed, says the story, adding:

“The ban had been condemned by the press freedom group Reporters without Borders and drew attention to Turkey’s shaky record on permitting free expression.

“It is illegal in Turkey to insult Ataturk, a revered figure whose image graces every denomination of currency and whose portrait hangs in nearly all government offices.”

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

Atatuek is a pig a parasite and piece of shit!

    Voila! What’s about that?

    :) good one.

  3. Reader's Write Says:

M.K. Ataturk is a (much as was Brigham Young) legend in his own time, and that reputation was not limited to his own lifetime.

Anyone who says and/or thinks otherwise is nothing more than a hysterical blithering idiot.
