ITV ‘Dancing on Ice’ cleared
p2pnet.net news:- Britain’s ITV has been in deep trouble over its quiz channel ITV Play and was forced to halt premium-rate interactive services, text votes and red button interaction.
Over-charging claims have been lodged and the “crisis” involving ITV, Channel 4 and Channel Five premium-rate interactive services, “deepened yesterday as regulators warned that police could become involved and MPs said the affair had destroyed the credibility of the industry,” reported The Guardian last week.
“ITV said on Friday it would go ahead with plans to sscreen [sic] the semi-final of its Dancing on Ice reality TV show this weekend after a review found that the programme’s premium-rate phone vote was being run in accordance with regulatory procedures,” says Reuters, going on:
“Earlier this week, ICSTIS, the premium rate services regulator, announced a number of initiatives to restore public trust in phone-in competitions amid concern that viewers might have been conned.
“The regulator is proposing a licensing regime for all premium-rate service providers operating participation TV services within three months.”
However, “ITV 1 and itv 2 are still showing fixed and rigged, expensiveninteractive call-in shows, despite what’s being reported,” says a p2pnet reader in an email. “All this week (that’s all my EPG has) – including today and tomorrow – they are showing ‘Make Your Play’ and ‘Glitterball’,” she says, going on:
They haven’t stopped airing these types of shows. I don’t have Five and Four, so I can’t say what’s really happening there. but all I know is that ITV has not stopped.
I don’t watch them. they’re crap and the Swiss, German, French, Italian, Austrian channels show a lot of these late at night through the moring for people who like to throw their money away. it’s really a shame they resort to this for income instead of showing quality entertainment or old movies.
It reminds me of that movie ‘Quiz Show’ from the early 90s.
Meanwhile, “We are delighted Dancing On Ice is going ahead as planned and viewers will be able to vote as normal for their favourite celebrities in Saturday’s semi-final,” What’s On TV has ITV director of television Simon Shaps declaring.
“Quiz channel ITV Play is still off air and won’t return until it’s passed a ’security audit’.”
