Disney goes after mothers
p2pnet.net news:- Disney figures it has kids well covered. So now it’s going after their mums.
It’s, “all part of our age-banded strategy where we are looking to follow the consumer through all their age levels and have something for them at every age,” said company spokesman Ken Goldstein when his employers announced a MySpace-type site to ensnare children.
Now, “The Walt Disney Co. is launching a new Web site aimed at moms who are increasingly turning to the Internet for answers to everything from problems with teething babies to financing college,” says Associated Press.
Hard-core Disney is, of course, an excellent source for the answers.
Disney Family, “is a departure for the media conglomerate, which has primarily launched Web efforts to promote its own brands and products, keeping strict control over content and presentation,” says AP.
“By contrast, the new site is a one-stop site for parents, especially mothers, providing everything from Internet search to user-generated articles on key topics such as education and food, and, eventually, a ‘ParentPedia,’ a compilation of information on 1,000 topics that can be expanded by users.”
Sadly, Disney won’t only be marking Americans. It’ll be targeting credulous mums in other parts of the world as well with Disney marketeers watching their every move ……”
